Prayer as a Way of Life

Dear fellow spiritual traveler,

We have been socialized to think of prayer as a religious ritual, something we do once in awhile, or something we rely on when things get really challenging.

For me, prayer is a way of living. It’s my steady, direct line of communication with Spirit that I can turn to at any moment throughout my days—and I do.

I’ve been praying since I was very little. I remember, when I was four years old, waking up, standing on my bed, opening my arms in a victory stance, and proclaiming, “Thank you God for this day. Today is gonna be a great day!”

No one taught me this. It was something I knew…something I remembered…something that felt so natural to me.

What is Prayer?
Prayer is a means of communication between you and Spirit. Prayer can be a way of living that allows you to actively co-create your life with Spirit—with the primary intention of bringing more love, peace, ease, and joy to the world. And you can truly do this all day.

A Lived Example of Prayer
Awhile back, my wife and I were going out to dinner with people. There was one person that was going to be at that dinner that, historically, we had not enjoyed being around. I was lamenting about being around this person to my wife and, in the middle of said lamenting, I distinctly heard a voice say (in the most casual and neutral way), “You’ve only complained about it. You haven’t prayed about it.”

…Lol. I love when Spirit calls me out. #humbled

I paused, took my wife’s hand, and said, “Spirit, we are not looking forward to this dinner. We are seeing this individual through negative, judgmental eyes. And we are willing to see them differently. We are willing to let love lead. Please help us. We need a miracle.”

A few hours later, we went to that dinner and it was…truly different than any other dinner. This person was lovely, kind, and actually asked us questions (gasp!). We had a beautiful time. We led with love seemingly effortlessly. It was just…beautiful.

Closing Reflections
This is the power of prayer. It isn’t about getting what we think we want from Spirit. It is about being fiercely devoted to being a presence of love, peace, ease, and joy everywhere you go, and allowing Spirit to intervene and co-create that experience with you. And that is why we’re here.

Prayer truly can be the medium of miracles.

With care,
Heather
